welcome to jenny tennille the mental mommy

I’m a mom. I’m also an optimistic nihilist. What’s that? I’m glad you asked. Optimistic nihilism is the ability of a person to create his or her own meaning after fully accepting that the universe is a place of total meaninglessness. Yes, this is what I truly believe. Yes, my kids know I believe this. It’s liberating.

I also talk about mental illness, as I suffer from generalized anxiety, intermittent depression episodes and CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). So, I’m juggling an ongoing existential crisis with a β€œmental illness cocktail” while trying to break generational cycles and be the best mom I can be. Some days that’s nearly impossible. It’s a struggle. But it’s also rewarding. It’s hard. But it’s also fun! Life is hard. But I think it is also worth it. These issues are only a small part of who I am. The same goes for you or anyone else struggling. But, they do influence how we behave and get along in our everyday lives. Some of us may always have to find ways to cope in life because these things are deeply ingrained within us.

Click around the site and use whatever you need. I’m just a mom pushing forward and sharing my story to potentially help others…maybe you. Don’t be fooled, I’m somewhat selfish β€” I write for general catharsis to feel better, but if you can benefit too…why not?

Thanks so much for being here. Peace. ✌️

where to start & disclaimer

Not sure where to start? Read the blog. Start with Who is Jenny Tennille? and go from there. That way, you can get to know me before reading my point of view on being a parent while dealing with coming to terms with my nihilism, mental illness, and constant existential crises. I’m not a doctor, psychologist, or therapist. I’m simply a stay-at-home mom who has dealt with all of this while parenting for 15+ years, and my overall mental issues since I was a kid. I won’t bullshit you, and I won’t hold back. If you like straight and to the point, I’m your girl. If you’re easily offended, probably not.

Next, check out my Quotes page for inspirational sayings and memes that resonated deeply with me. I don’t know about you, but quotes are a soft spot for me β€” short and sweet and straight to the point. On the Excerpts page, you’ll find pieces of writing from my non-published memoirs (they are still in process). I welcome feedback through my Contacts page. On the Projects page, you will find the current memoirs and other projects I’m currently working on. There’s much more on the site, so take what you need and leave the rest. If you find anything at all that helps you here, it’s all worth it for me. Peace.

β€œWe all have β€œissues” because we all have a story. And no matter how much work you’ve done on yourself, we all snap back sometimes. So be easy on you. Growth is a dance. Not a light switch.
